More often than not, tipsters, readers, friends and family of Eater ask us: Where should I eat right now? What are the new restaurants? What haven't I heard of? What's everyone talking about? And while the Eater 38 is a crucial resource covering old standbys and neighborhood essentials across the city, it is not a chronicle of the 'it' places of the moment. Thus, we offer the Eater Heatmap, which will change continuously to always highlight where the foodie crowds are flocking to at the moment.
Two restaurants that have become mainstays on this map, Ancora on Freret Street and Truburger on Oak, graduate off of it this month, having been open for a year. Joining the fray are the two super-big openings from the last couple of weeks: René Bistrot, the exciting return of René Bajeux's namesake restaurant, and Restaurant R'evolution, the long-awaited and ambitious restaurant from Louisiana icon John Folse and acclaimed Chicago chef Rick Tramonto. Both of these are departures from the more casual openings of the last couple of years. With both of them being so brand-spankin'-new, consider these provisional additions; they'll be revisited in next month's update.
As always, leave your thoughts in the comments or email.
