More often than not, tipsters, readers, friends and family of Eater ask us: Where should I eat right now? What are the new restaurants? What haven't I heard of? What's everyone talking about? And while the Eater 38 is a crucial resource covering old standbys and neighborhood essentials across the city, it is not a chronicle of the 'it' places of the moment. Thus, we offer the Eater Heat Map, which will change continuously to always highlight where the foodie crowds are flocking to at the moment.
This update features three subtractions. The Velvet Cactus and Pizza Consegna come off as the (minimal) excitement they created has died down, while Cowbell is now over a year old and has graduated off the Heat Map. Meanwhile, Borgne enters, because while it's only been open a few days, with the weight of John Besh and Brian Landry behind it this is one to check out. Eater will, of course, monitor the reactions to the new seafood restaurant inside the Hyatt to make sure it deserves to maintain its spot on the Heat Map for next month's update.
