More often than not, tipsters, readers, friends and family of Eater ask us: Where should I eat right now? What are the new restaurants? What haven't I heard of? What's everyone talking about? And while the Eater 38 is a crucial resource covering old standbys and neighborhood essentials across the city, it is not a chronicle of the 'it' places of the moment. Thus, we offer the Eater Heat Map, which will change continuously to always highlight where the foodie crowds are flocking to at the moment.
It's a testament to the last year in local restaurant openings that many of these places already feel like mainstays that have been here for years. There's only one subtraction this month, with Dat Dog passing the one year old mark, thereby graduating off the heat map. The newest additions Borgne and Maurepas Foods maintain their spots.
No additions, though. Several new-ish restaurants?Tamarind and Magasin come to mind?haven't really seemed to catch fire yet. But if they start to really heat up, they can always make it onto next month's update.
As always, leave your thoughts in the comments, or email.
