More often than not, tipsters, readers, friends and family of Eater ask us: Where should I eat right now? What are the new restaurants? What haven't I heard of? What's everyone talking about? And while the Eater 38 is a crucial resource covering old standbys and neighborhood essentials across the city, it is not a chronicle of the 'it' places of the moment. Thus, we offer the Eater Heat Map, which will change continuously to always highlight where the foodie crowds are flocking to at the moment.

It's a testament to the last year in local restaurant openings that many of these places already feel like mainstays that have been here for years. None of these restaurants is quite ready to graduate off the Heat Map, though a pair of restaurants, John Besh's Borgne and Matt Murphy's Irish House, seem to be cooling off a bit and may not remain on this map for long.
