Let's face it: Sometimes you just want to go out and have a really, really good cocktail. Not go out and get sloshed, but actually have something you'll enjoy and, just maybe, remember enjoying. Times like these call for a well-crafted cocktail, carefully and lovingly made by a bartender who has a true passion for making drinks that are delicious, interesting and true to the wonderful history of the cocktail.

In honor of these times when you just want a great cocktail, here is the Eater NOLA Cocktail Heat Map, our list of the hottest spots for craft cocktails in New Orleans right now, listed in no particular order. This doesn't mean there aren't great cocktails elsewhere; it's just that these are the ones with the hotness and the hype behind them right now. On that note, entering the fold are Sylvain, on the strength of their housemade cola and killer sazeracs (and perhaps a glaring omission from the last map); Maurepas Foods, redefining eating and drinking in the Bywater; and perhaps most notably, Bellocq, Cure's younger cousin specializing in old-timey cobblers and punches.

Think we missed something? Have a cocktail bar or restaurant with a great cocktail program that you think needs to be on here? Think one or more of these just isn't as hot as we say and needs to be removed? Let us know.
