This bright and cheery cafe from Dickie Brennan is perfect for a picnic — it’s in the heart of City Park adjacent to the children’s museum. Acorn is open everyday (breakfast is served all day — good breakfast burritos), with a menu ranging from pizza to salad bowls and sandwiches. There’s even a charcuterie picnic for two, with house cured meats and artisan cheeses, $30 with water, $35 with canned beer or wine. The outdoor patio overlooking the lake feels like a picnic without the ants.

Cash only and way way cheap, this French Quarter deli and market has a voluminous menu. From cheesesteaks to burgers, ham and cheese to po-boys, lasagna to meatloaf, they’ve got it all for pick up or delivery.
