This Mid City family favorite has built a special Mother’s Day menu for six, with options including herbed pork tenderloin, smothered chicken, and braised short ribs with sides (additional sides for six available a la carte). Always trust a Blue Oak special, and it looks like the Mother’s Day offering is no different. Order a meal of smoked garlic crusted prime rib with au jus and horseradish cream, served with creamed spinach and mashed potatoes for $35 per person. Call to order.

The Dooky Chase’s team took off after Holy Thursday for its annual Community Gives Back Days, another reason they’re the best. It returns triumphantly for takeout with a traditional Creole Mother’s Day Brunch of shrimp and grits, eggs New Orleans, roasted turkey, gumbo, sides, and dessert, serving four for $150.00. This refreshing new restaurant on the outskirts of the Quarter has a reliably refreshing Mother’s Day menu, featuring dishes like chicken liver pate or shrimp, crab, and hominy gumbo to start; blue crab quiche or biscuits and gravy for the main; and cane syrup pie, Mexican chocolate sheet cake, or Louisiana blueberry tart for dessert. The three-course menu is $75 and serves four — not a bad deal. Email the restaurant with your order, contact info, and preferred pick up or delivery time and someone will get back to you to confirm and take payment.

Excitingly, 2020 James Beard-nominated chefs Kristen Essig and Michael Stoltzfus are offering Mother’s Day brunch and dinner via new neighborhood restaurant Thalia. For brunch: heirloom tomato salad, beef cheek grillades and grits, and strawberry galette ($30 for two people and $60 for four); for dinner: chilled pea soup, fish en papillote with squash, and strawberry shortcake ($40 for two, $80 for four). Also offering mimosa, French 75, and cinnamon roll kits.

Galatoire’s shift to grab-and-go takeout remains in place for Mother’s Day meals, with some new special options available. Most excitingly is the mimosa kit for $50, which includes two bottles of Gala sparkling wine, a quart of OJ, and a pint of strawberries; and the Chantilly cake. There are familiar apps, soups, sides and salads, and entrees include a wagyu strip loin for four, roasted pork loin, or a seafood stuffed pompano. Call to place an order by 7 p.m. on Thursday to pick up on Friday or Saturday.

For two people, the package includes biscuit mix and either a bottle of wine or the restaurant’s popular cookbook for $110, or the meal alone is available for $43 per person.
