New Orleans, a city that now occupies the traditional homelands of the Chitimacha and Chahta Yakni (Choctaw) peoples, celebrates Thanksgiving with a range of unique traditions. Dishes like shrimp and mirliton dressing are among the favorites at the dinner table, while gathering at the Fair Grounds on Thanksgiving morning is an annual outing for many. After a few years of focusing on takeout meals only, this year a solid number of the city’s top restaurants are open for dine-in and serving festive menus on Thursday, November 24, 2022.
