Five Classic Clubs To Try in New Orleans Now

View as Map

Club Sandwich Power Hour rolls on, as we now investigate the more classic take. What makes a club sandwich a club sandwich? One or more meats, plus bacon, lettuce, tomato, and mayo, between three slices of toasted bread, cut into four triangles and held together with toothpicks (frills optional). While some clubs on this list don't meet all those factors, here are five of the best classic clubs in New Orleans.

Dots Diner

Dot's gets the traditional club right. It's huge. It's held together with toothpicks. And it comes with a large helping of chili cheese fries if you so desire. There is also a three-layor bacon, egg, sausage breakfast club.

Cake Cafe & Bakery

A club sandwich on challah? Holla!

The Camellia Grill

The greasiest of spoons has a two-layer Camellia Club, but the question is, does anybody ever come here and not get sidetracked by chili and burgers?

Clover Grill

Another plate-size traditional club. The diner also has Tuna and Chicken Salad Clubs. Perfect for pairing with tots.
The club is stuffed but not double stacked at this Bywater joint. Still, toothpicks are needed.
