Since the first New Orleans-area case of COVID-19 was announced on March 9, 2020, circumstances locally and statewide have changed at a rapid-fire pace — including for the city’s economically-essential food and hospitality industry.
New Orleans has been gradually emerging from a months-long stay-at-home order, beginning with the reopening of restaurant dining rooms at a limited capacity in May, followed by the same for bars in June. Now, with local and national cases surging once again, New Orleans is limiting bars and restaurants to table service only in hopes of tackling the alarming community spread of the virus taking place throughout the state.
