When Mid City’s year and a half old Echo’s Pizza closed in July, BRG Hospitality (formerly Besh Restaurant Group), simultaneously announced its plans to open a second location of Pizza Domenica in its place. That new location opened Friday, September 13, after a quick turnaround of the restaurant, reports the Gambit.
The new Pizza Domenica offers the same menu as the Magazine Street location, as well as the extremely popular weekday happy hour featuring half-price pizza, draft beer and wines by the glass. The location adds a weekend brunch, which Echo’s became known for after introducing wood-fired bagels to its menu. Pizza Domenica’s brunch menu will also feature wood-fired bagels, according to the Gambit.
BRG made a few light-touch changes to the interior of the space, which underwent an extensive renovation before the crew behind Echo’s opened in early 2018. A key element of Pizza Domenica’s pizza, the bubbly, blistered crust, is achieved through the addition of a gas line was added to the oven.
The new Pizza Domenica, at 3200 Banks Street, is open Monday through Thursday from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m., noon to 10 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday, and 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday.
