A sleek, photo-ready hybrid beauty and matcha bar opened last week on Magazine Street, the first matcha-focused cafe to land in New Orleans. Drink Beauty is from co-owners Melissa Coleman and CeCe Colhoun, who wanted to “bring the L.A. and NYC coffee shop vibe” to the city.
Touting a focus on wellness with drink ingredients like turmeric, beetroot powder, and even CBD oil, the shop also sells makeup and beauty products, coffee from West Coast roaster Klatch Coffee, and macarons from NOLA-based Grey Bird Baking. Specialty drinks include the Purple Rain with goji berry, taro, and lavender, the Daydream with butterfly pea flower and violet, and the signature Drink Beauty, featuring the aforementioned beetroot powder, all for under $8.
Previously a salon, a six-month gut job transformed the space at 3424 Magazine Street into a sparkling, pink-and-white adorned coffee shop featuring a giant cloud mural, neon lips hanging over the beverage bar, and a pink La Marzocco espresso machine.
Drink Beauty is the latest in a string of recently-opened New Orleans businesses that do not accept cash, joining Lamara Coffee & Kitchen, Bonci pizzeria, and Bellegarde Bakery. Drink Beauty is open daily from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
