Levee Baking Co. popped-up at its first permanent location on Magazine Street over the weekend, drawing a line of pastry fans down the block and selling out within a few hours. The highly-anticipated cafe from Link Restaurant Group alum Christina Balzebre will open to customers again this Saturday, June 22, and then permanently on June 29.
I wanted to check out the new Levee Baking Company location. I thought it might be better to arrive at 10:30, a little after the doors opened. Lol no. pic.twitter.com/n4WYv941Nu

Balzebre has worked at hit CBD cafe Willa Jean and for Donald Link’s restaurant group, eventually serving as bread manager for all of Link’s restaurants. When her gorgeous, Simply Irresistible-reminiscent home-baked goods gained an Instagram following, she started selling them to local cafes and coffee shops. From there, she spent two years popping-up for Saturday brunch at Mosquito Supper Club, the family-style supper club known for its homey vibe and use of local products.
The bakery is on a busy Uptown block next to the always-packed Rum House, in the former home of Maple Street Patisserie et Deli and most recently Cloud 9 Bistro. In addition to Balzebre’s tarts, pastries, cinnamon rolls, and crusty loaves of bread, Levee will offer a small lunch menu of soups and sandwiches and plans to sell wine and have a happy hour in the future.
Levee Baking Co. will be open Wednesday through Saturday starting June 29, with final hours to be determined.
