Lakeview’s fine dining restaurant Cava served its last meal over the weekend on Saturday, April 6, as owner Danny Millan focuses on his next venture, a family-friendly sports restaurant and bar also located on Harrison Avenue.

Nola.com reported that Millan, who opened Cava at 789 Harrison Avenue in 2014, said a family in Lakeview bought the restaurant with plans to open a “more casual, family” spot in the location.

Casual, family-friendly dining is also Millan’s plan for his upcoming Azul, which he began working on last year, a new construction at the other end of the Avenue, 117 W Harrison Ave. Set to open mid-May, Azul will have pub standards like po-boys, burgers and wings as well as a signature Cuban, an “extensive” draft beer system, and wines by the glass that don’t cost more than seven bucks.

Millan has a 35-year career in New Orleans, having previously worked at the original Brennan’s on Royal Street, Restaurant August, and the now-closed Le Foret.
