LGD Wine Bar the Tasting Room Closes After Five Years

Owners are having a blowout wine sale

The Tasting Room/Facebook

Elegant wine bar and bistro The Tasting Room, which opened on Magazine Street in February 2014, has poured its last glass, according to a Facebook post made by owner Toby DeVore Monday (April 15).

DeVore, a Level 3 sommelier who opened the shop with wife Lisa DeVore, added that customers could stop by one last time for a glass and an everything-must-go sale on Tuesday (he later added they’d again be selling their stuff Wednesday): “The Tasting Room is closing it’s doors. It has been and incredible ride and we are sorry to go but our loss is your gain. Join us for a blowout sale, from the stove to the wine...”

The chic spot at 1906 Magazine with velvet couches, exposed brick walls, and a romantic courtyard patio opened to the delight of the Lower Garden District five years ago, with daily tastings, affordable bottles, and a menu that went beyond the standard wine bar charcuterie offerings.

Before it was The Tasting Room, the Lower Garden District address held now-closed restaurants Diva Dawg, The Lucky Ladle, and J’Anita’s.
