A new 24/7 French Quarter location of Cleo’s Mediterranean Cuisine opens today on Decatur Street in the former location of Cafe Giovanni, which closed in 2017 after 26 years at the address.
Cleo’s first location, which included a 24/7 convenience store, opened downtown on Roosevelt Way in 2015 and quickly became known for supplying vegetarians, service industry workers, tipsy late-night diners, and anyone with a penchant for excellent hummus and Middle Eastern food. That location briefly closed before reopening around the corner on Canal Street at the beginning of 2018, at which time owner Tarek Madkour announced plans to expand with a store-free French Quarter restaurant.
Cleo’s second location on 117 Decatur Street is its first full restaurant, featuring an expanded menu, Middle Eastern decor, and its own in-house pita bakery, according to The Advocate.
For today and tomorrow (Tuesday), Cleo’s will be open from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., opening 24/7 starting Wednesday, February 13.
