Chain-averse New Orleans may soon smell the scent of pancake syrup coming from the old Five Happiness Imperial Room at 3511 S. Carrollton Avenue when plans are approved to transform the former event space into an IHOP.
Todd Price did some digging and found that Ruby Enterprises bought the property in June for $1.4 million.
IHOP is mostly known for basic American breakfast items like pancakes, but after declining sales for ten straight quarters, the chain serving mediocre pancakes turned to obnoxious PR stunts this summer to get people talking (it worked) about its new line of — burgers.
