Time to pull out the stretchy pants: Cookie Dough Bliss will bring over 20 different flavors of ready-to-eat cookie dough when franchisees Gina and Chad LaRose open the first Louisiana location of the Concord, North Carolina-based cookie dough shop at 241 W. Harrison in Lakeview (formerly Stardust Hair Salon).

“We really wanted to open a family-friendly Lakeview business because we love our neighborhood. And we love the concept and the flavors of Cookie Dough Bliss,” Gina LaRose told Eater. The LaRoses live in Lakeview with their three young children.

Cookie Dough Bliss treats cookie dough a little like ice cream (and often serves it with ice cream), scooping it into waffle cones, onto popsicle sticks, and turning it into ice cream sandwiches and sundaes. Flavors include Nutella, cake batter, and cookie monster.

Cookie dough specialists have been around since at least 2011 when The Cookie Dough Cafe, headquartered in Illinois, began selling the dessert by the tub online and in grocery stores.

Then Kristen Tomlin opened Dō in Manhattan after people started stopping by her unmarked NYC kitchen asking for cookie dough. During the first weeks, there was a two-hour wait to get inside. The LaRoses had read about Dō and started researching cookie dough franchise opportunities when they were ready to open a Lakeview business of their own.

Cookie Dough Bliss is still a pretty new company, founded in 2017, the year Eater called the break-out year for cookie dough. It’s the only cookie dough franchise in North America and the LaRoses were the eighth franchisees to sign on to open stores.

The new shop will include a private room for birthday parties and other events.

The couple is anticipating a mid-November opening.
