NYC’s Fifth Avenue is getting a big, big taste of the Crescent City as the chic Bergdorf Goodman department store has a gargantuan replica of a crawfish hovering behind three faceless mannequins in one of its five New Orleans-themed windows right now. The Crescent City also took over the fancy department store’s magazine, restaurant, and the rest of its Fifth Avenue windows.
The store partnered with the New Orleans Tourism Marketing Corp to promote New Orleans’ Tricentennial in its windows. It’s also serving a bunch of dishes created by Nina Compton in its restaurant: shrimp remoulade, baked jerk drum, shrimp ragu with creamy grits, and peach bread pudding.
And local lady Sara Ruffin Costello, who moved to New Orleans from NYC six years ago, gave the magazine associated with the store her opinion about where to eat and what to do in the Crescent City. Among her dining and imbibing choices are Compère Lapin, N7, Josephine Estelle, Cane and Table, French 75 bar, and French Truck Coffee. Brennan’s, Cochon, and Cavan. And Commander’s Palace and Elizabeth’s have a cameo in the lead fashion feature.
You’re welcome, NYC.
