Twenty-three El Paso Mexican Grill restaurant chain locations in Louisiana and Florida failed to pay workers fare wages, according to the Department of Labor and a report from NOLA.COM.
The chain owes $654,366 in back wages to 567 employees because it deducted the costs of uniforms from paychecks, didn’t pay workers for all the hours they worked, and paid some kitchen workers flat salaries without taking into account the number of hours they worked (which sometimes exceeded 40 in a week).
The chain has locations in Algiers, on Vets in Metairie, and in Mandeville, Slidell, LaPlace, Marrero, and Luling.
