Madam’s Modern Kitchen + Bar Is Now Serving Muffalettas on Canal Street

The spot is named for the neighborhood’s storied past.

Madam’s Modern Kitchen + Bar is now open in the newly renovated B on Canal hotel, at 1300 Canal Street in the CBD. B on Canal just re-opened after undergoing a multimillion-dollar renovation.

The restaurant’s name is a nod to the neighborhood’s past. Where B on Canal now sits was once a red light district in the city — think late-1800s to early-1900s — and the neighborhood was known as Storyville. Madam’s has fully embraced its old-timey brothel theme — and not only in name. The restaurant’s happy hour offerings are called “red light specials,” and the restaurant is marked with various reminders of the neighborhood’s past, like an artistic, permanent lipstick stain and fishnet curtains.

Executive chef Drew Mills is behind the menu which prominently features plenty of seafood — raw bar, caviar, ceviche — and classic New Orleans hits like gumbo and muffalettas.

The restaurant is open everyday; breakfast is served weekdays from 7am until 11am and lunch is from 11am until 2pm. Dinner starts at 5pm nightly, raging until 11pm on weekdays, until 2am on Friday and Saturday nights, and until 10pm on Sundays. Weekend brunch is on the horizon.
