RAT ATTACK—In decidedly unappetizing news, a Facebook post surfaced of (at least four) rats romping around a restaurant and has gone viral, reports NOLA.com. The video poster — who saw the scene through the window — refused to name the restaurant, but hinted that it was located in the French Quarter. [NOLA.COM]
COMING ATTRACTIONS—Mid-City is getting a new brunch spot in a familiar location: Fullblast Brunch will open where Ruby Slipper Cafe once stood, on South Cortez Street, reports Gambit. This opening is not without controversy — Ruby Slipper owners sued owner Christopher Belou over his plans for the space. Belou told Gambit that the menu is “typical” New Orleans style with some Latin influences thrown in for good measure. [GAMBIT]
CH-CH-CHANGES—The owners of the St. Charles Avenue McDonald’s, in the Garden District, are seeking permission to re-do the space, reports Uptown Messenger. The current two-story building is no longer working for the owners, and they’re looking to do a complete overhaul. [UPTOWN MESSENGER]
POP-UPS—Nola Veggie is a pop-up in a very unique place — under the overpass of the Lafitte Greenway in Treme, reports The Advocate. Housed in a shipping container, it’s the first of similar initiatives known as the Claiborne Corridor Cultural Innovation District. [THE ADVOCATE]
COMING ATTRACTIONS—Love Kreme is closer to being a reality; City Council has given tentative approval to the ice cream parlor on Louisiana Avenue, reports Uptown Messenger. [Uptown Messenger]
