Felix’s restaurant is now slinging raw oysters on the Lakefront. The new oyster house opened this week in the spot Brisbi’s left in May after five years in business, Ian McNulty reports.
Like the original Felix’s in the French Quarter, the main draw is the oysters. The Lakefront eatery has two oyster bars and a separate glassed-in area to watch the bivalves grilled over hot flames.
According to McNulty’s report, the Lakefront Felix’s takes cues from a typical “Bucktown menu” with more boiled seafood and a few new entrees than the original Felix’s in the Quarter.
And then there’s that view over the lake — with plenty of second floor outdoor seating and an open-air patio under the restaurant on the water level that serves up live music and a truncated menu of oysters and boiled seafood.
Felix’s recently expanded its French Quarter location and added another in Gulfport, Mississippi.
The Lakefront Felix’s is currently only open for dinner, starting at 5 p.m. On June 30, regular hours will start: Sunday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., and Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.
