Lakefront Is Getting a New Oyster Bar

Felix’s Restaurant and Oyster Bar is slated to open its third location in Lakefront, reports Ann Maloney at NOLA.com. Felix’s is opening at 7400 Lakeshore Drive, taking over for Brisbi’s Lakefront Restaurant & Bar; Brisbi’s closed its doors for good earlier this week after about five years in business.

Felix’s is a veteran of the NOLA seafood scene — the original location at 739 Iberville Street in the French Quarter opened in the 1940s. Last year, that restaurant literally expanded after the owners bought neighboring 208 Bourbon Street to create an L-shaped restaurant. Also last year, Felix’s opened a location in Gulfport, Mississippi. The menu at the Lakefront location, reports NOLA.com, is planned to be “traditional Bucktown,” and will be similar to the Gulfport location — think fried seafood and po-boys (and oysters, naturally.)

The new incarnation of 7400 Lakefront — which was constructed for Brisbi’s by Jonathan Brisbi — should open in a few weeks, like, two or three. Everyone who was employed at Brisbi’s has been offered a job at Felix’s, reports Maloney.
