NEWS — While working at a New Orleans McDonald’s, Tanya Harrel alleges she endured sexual harassment twice in a single month, at one point pulled into a bathroom by a colleague who then exposed his genitals and tried to have sex with her. She’s one of 10 women who have filed complaints against the burger giant with the EEOC, making national headlines. [E]

HISTORY — Among a few New Orleans-style barbecue shrimp recipes, the Times-Picayune points out that the famous dish originally came from the Midwest, “long considered a culinary wasteland.” The story goes that a Pascale’s Manale regular came in one night raving about a shrimp dish he had in Chicago (which isn’t really a culinary wasteland) and asked the chef to approximate it.
