Hot on the heels of the announcement that Union Ramen is headed for the Lower Garden District, the beloved, new-school Ramen Ya’ll announced it will pull the plug on its operation inside CBD Social at the end of this week.
Hitomi told Eater New Orleans that he currently has no plans to revive Ramen Y’all.
“I couldn’t have gotten this far without you all. It is with a heavy heart that I have to announce that this will be the last week for us for the foreseeable future,” Ramen Ya’ll owner and chef Yutaka Hitomi said on the ramen shop’s social media channels.
According to the post, the business side of the venture never worked out.
The Commander’s Palace alum started Ramen Ya’ll as a pop-up, appearing often and gaining a loyal following at the Freret Beer Room and Barrel Proof before moving into what Hitomi hoped would be a permanent home inside CBD Social, a relatively new bar next to Herbsaint, in mid-January of this year. Less than two weeks ago, Ramen Ya’ll extended its hours to lunch service on Thursdays.
The final chances for Ramen Ya’ll bowl of noodles are Thursday from 6 p.m. to 1 a.m., Friday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and from 6 p.m. to 1 a.m., and on Saturday from 6 p.m. to 1 a.m. Meanwhile, CBD Social is actively searching for someone to fill the void in its kitchen.
