Take a First Look Mid City’s Piece of Meat Butcher Shop and Restaurant

The charming spot opens in Mid City soon

Piece of Meat, a simultaneously quaint and edgy new butcher shop and eatery from Cochon Butcher alums, Leighann Smith (a former Eater Young Guns finalist) and Daniel Jackson, throws open its doors at 3301 Bienville in Mid City this Saturday, April 21 at 10 a.m.

The interior mixes a “down the bayou” feel with the Old World aesthetic that Leighann had seen while she was in Europe. The pair combined rough elements like the old wood on the salami cabinet (salvaged from a house on Decatur Street) with sleeker elements, like the white tiles that run up the walls and the finished wood on the bar top. And they did it without working with a designer.

There’s plenty of seating inside, with the most coveted likely being the stools at the bar that surrounds the butchers’ work area, in addition to a splattering of outdoor tables that hug the perimeter of the French blue building.
