City Won’t Force Bars to Install Cameras After All

CONTROVERSIES — Mayor Mitch Landrieu wanted bars to install cameras and connect them to citywide camera monitoring system. He considered it an important crime-fighting step, but restaurants and bars said it was more akin a “big brother regime” and ripe for abuse. The proposed ordinance has finally met its end.
