Hippie Kitchen, now open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, is bringing avocado toast, turmeric tonics, and hot lemon water to Old Jefferson.
The menu, which is supposed to be healthy, ranges from burrito bowls and “peace wraps” (which are wraps) to pasta and pan-seared puppy drum with saffron beurre blanc. Beverages, like fresh juices, coffee, tonics, and the hot lemon water round out the menu. (The hot lemon water is $2.49.) The menu also includes lots of salads, sandwiches, and the ubiquitous avocado toast.
The restaurant seems to tick off all the boxes for the health-conscious crowd, beyond the previously-trendy bone broth — but who needs it when there’s hot lemon water?
Co-owner Harveen Khera previously ran HKNOLA at Tulane University’s Hillel Center. Executive chef Charlotte Morton, previously of Rouge Tomate in NYC, leads the kitchen.
Update (March 19, 2018, 1:48 p.m.): This post has been updated. The post previously noted that the restaurant had four “branch managers”, which implied that there may be expansion plans in the future. The restaurant currently has no plans to expand.
