It’s the final weekend for Uptown bourbon and oyster beauty, Kenton’s — and it’s winding down with a party.
Since announcing that the restaurant will close to make way for Alon Shaya’s new Israeli spot, the restaurant has been running a limited menu of favorite dishes (wood-fired oysters!) and laying out ambitious plans to empty the bar of bourbon by offering lots of discounts. (They had a lot of bourbon.)
So, it’s time to double down as the end draws near. Here are the plans for the final days at Kenton’s.
Friday, March 16
Fried redfish and chips with tartar sauce is $19. Happy hour stretches to 6pm, with half off oysters and half off all whiskey left on the wall.
Saturday, March 17
It would be sad if Kenton’s didn’t fire up the smoker one last time. All day long (10 a.m. to 11 p.m.), Kenton’s will run barbecue specials on brisket, pulled pork, and ribs, in addition to other regular menu items. Live music from Jason Stewart, Wendell Brunious, and John Maestas is in the bar area from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Stefan Moll Trio will entertain from 9 p.m. to 11 p.m. for all those late night cocktails.
Sunday, March 18th
It’s the final day for Kenton’s and it’ll open at 10 a.m. with brunch. Expect a menu built entirely around burgers. Plus live music from Jon Roniger from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. in the bar area. And that whiskey has got to go.
