Quarterback Drew Brees just signed a two-year, $50 million contract with the Saints, and Leah Chase, the 95-year old Queen of Creole Cuisine and proprietor of emblematic Dooky Chase restaurant, is so thrilled that she’s ready for a drink, according to WWL-TV.
“I’m so proud of them,” she told WWL-TV. “I ought to color my Sprite after this. Get me a Sprite and drop some Crown Royal in it.” Plus, she says she owes Brees and Saints coach Sean Payton a Creole feast since they’ve worked so well together.
Leah Chase’s love for Drew Brees and the Saints runs deep. To watch them in the Super Bowl in 2010, she held onto some black and gold rosary beads (the team’s colors) and wore a hat she made for the occasion.
