Sac-a-Lait, a Cajun and Creole go-to in the Warehouse District, has closed its doors, according to the Advocate.
The restaurant had been in business on Annunciation Street since early 2015, focusing on innovative takes on Louisiana culinary staples. It was headed up by husband and wife team Cody and Samantha Carroll, also known for their roles in Food Network series Cajun Aces.
Sac-a-Lait served its final meals a little over a week ago, keeping the closure very quiet and giving no public announcement (although one post on Instagram vaguely hinted at it). However, the Advocate reported that the Carrolls have a new project in the work, although they were not yet ready to offer any details.
The couple’s New Roads restaurant Hot Tails — their first venture — is still open as usual.
In other restaurant shutters, Carondelet Street Mexican eatery La Casita on the Patio has closed. According to the Advocate, owner John Michael Wade is looking to focus his attention on his Oak Street restaurant, La Casita Taqueria. The closure comes just a few months after Casita on the Patio was rebranded — it was previously something fancier, named El Patio (but before that, it was La Casita, although under a different owner).
