A New Beer Garden Is Slated For the Lafitte Greenway This Year

A 5,000 square foot beer garden is in the works for the Lafitte Greenway, with a likely opening before the end of the year.

According to NOLA.com, Wrong Iron will be in Mid-City, alongside Bayou Bicycles, with some 50 beers and 24 wines on tap (not to mention cocktails) — although it won’t be craft beer focused, with that article describing it rather as “a fun beer garden”, It comes from the owners of dual New Orleans beer bars the Bulldog.

The tree-lined outdoor space will also feature fire pits and games like bocce, and a smaller indoor area containing the bar itself with plenty of bricks and wood, fittingly modelled after an old-fashioned rail station (Lafitte Greenway was formerly a railroad).

A kitchen and grill are also in the works for the site (although they’ll arrive sometime after the opening), but Wrong Iron won’t be foisting its own food program onto drinkers — instead, it’ll be handed over to chefs for pop-ups. The area will also have spaces for food trucks to park and serve.

It’s set to open in December, pending utility connections to the Wrong Iron location.
