Brunch favorite the Ruby Slipper Cafe has yet another expansion in store — this time, it’s opening in Metairie.
The newest location will take over the space currently occupied by Ralph Brennan restaurant Cafe B, on Metairie Road. Brennan’s restaurant is set to close at the end of this year after deciding not to renew its lease; Ruby Slipper will open up in spring 2019 The new arrival comes just a few months after Ruby Slipper opened in the French Quarter.
According to information from the Ruby Slipper, the menu will stay the same as at other locations — that means barbecue shrimp or catfish with grits, biscuits, and gravy, stuffed French toasts, and a host of hollandaise-laden Benedicts. The Old Metairie location will keep similar breakfast and lunch (or brunch) hours to others — early morning through to mid-afternoon.
This will be the Ruby Slipper’s seventh location in the New Orleans area. It’s the eleventh overall, counting restaurants further afield in Louisiana, Alabama, and Florida — now getting fully into chain territory, it has one restaurant each in Baton Rouge, Mobile, Orange Beach, and Pensacola. That’s not all — owners Jennifer and Erich Weishaupt also have a new restaurant, Ruby Sunshine, in the works for Franklin, Tennessee, also due in early 2019.
