Just four Popeyes locations in the U.S., including the one at 621 Canal Street in New Orleans, will batter their boneless chicken wings in champagne before tossing them in 24 karat gold flakes today, October 4, in celebration of the opening of the 3,000th Popeyes store.
These 24 karat gold champagne wings, basically crafted by the hands of god, will run around $5 for six of the boneless wings, a biscuit, and side while supplies last.
“We wanted to share this celebration with our fans, so our chefs cooked up something extra special for them. It’s a fun way for guests to celebrate this milestone right along with us,” Popeyes president, Alex Santoro, said in a statement.
The 3,000th Popeyes will throw open its doors in Elizabeth, New Jersey, but the chain started in Louisiana in 1972.
