Southern-Style Sandwiches Arrive in Pythian Market From Meribo Pizza Owners

With a beefy po’ boy and some spicy chicken

Loaded and meaty sandwiches are now available at Pythian Market, with Dirty South Sammich Co now open in the CBD food hall.

The meat-between-bread operation comes from a trio who already have a presence in the hot new hall — Anthony Ranaudo and Kasidy and Gavin Jobe are the owners of southern-ized pizzeria Meribo Pizza, which has been slinging pies since Pythian Market first opened in May (there’s also an older Meribo Pizza further afield, in Covington).

Similarly to Meribo, Dirty South Sammich Co is sticking to a range of southern flavors and styles on chef Gavin Jobe’s menu, which aims to walk the line between homey and creative (like Granny’s house — “if Granny went to Woodstock”, notes one description).

There’s a muffuletta (it’s unclear if it’s served hot or cold), a roast beef po’ boy, a Nashville hot chicken option, and the ODB — a crispy filling made with brisket burnt ends, dirty slaw, and house pickles. Most sandwiches hover around the $10 mark.

For sides, expect tater tots with pimento and chili cheese options on top, and the oddball Dilly Salad with broccoli, bacon, cheddar, red onion, raisins, and creamy dressing (the menu notes “just trust us” alongside this one).

Dirty South Sammich Co is open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday to Thursday and 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday, at Pythian Market (234 Loyola Avenue).
