Uptown coffee favorite Hey Cafe (sometimes written as Hey! Cafe) has made its first expansion, with a new location, named Hey Coffee Co, open on the edge of Treme, right on the Lafitte Greenway bike path and park.
It’s a big change for the nearly ten-year-old roaster and brewer of beans — Hey is expanding its roasting program, and has moved all roasting over to the new location on St. Louis Street near Broad. (The Magazine Street coffee shop is still running as normal, it’s just the roasting that moved.)
The new operation was partially funded via Kickstarter — owner Tommy Leblanc noted that the coffee shop’s existing roasting equipment was nearly spent, so his team wanted to invest in a Diedrich IR-12 Roaster for the new store.

The new location has views of the green space, and is roughly the same size as the original Hey, according to Gambit. It’s serving all the staple pastries and coffee, and LeBlanc is looking to get a license to serve beer and wine, too.
Hey Coffee Co is open at 2606 St. Louis Street from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily.
