Fireman Mike’s Cafe and Sweet Shop will open on Harrison Avenue in Lakeview today in the small restaurant space that was previously Chap’s Chicken, reports Todd Price.

Mike Gowland, known as “Fireman Mike” because he’s a retired firefighter, runs a Jazz Fest booth popular for its alligator sauce piquant. The new restaurant’s menu includes burgers and po-boys (meatloaf, cochon de lait, and more), plus rolled ice cream and other sweets.

Opening hours are 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily.
