Cleo’s Mediterranean kitchen, known for supplying vegetarians, service industry folks, people who need to sober up after a night of drinking, and anyone with a penchant for excellent hummus with some of the best Mediterranean food in the city, will take over the former Cafe Giovanni space in a few months, reports Todd Price. The new French Quarter location will be a full service restaurant, possibly open 24/7.
That’s not the only new spot planned for Cleo’s this year. According to the report, owner Tarek Madkour will open another new location on Canal Street today (January 9), just around the corner from the original (which shuttered in November). The Canal Street Cleo’s is similar to the original, a 24/7, casual spot that shares space with a convenience store.
Cleo’s has been a solid choice for quality Mediterranean food and breakfast sandwiches for several years now. Though the 24/7 service has been spotty according to some online reviews, the food quality has always been spot on.
