The Bywater Is Getting a New Wine Bar From Twelve Mile Limit’s T. Cole Newton

A new wine bar, sans ‘snootiness’

FACEBOOK

Bustling St. Claude Avenue is getting a new, neighborhood-y wine bar from 12 Mile Limit’s T. Cole Newton this summer, according to Todd Price. Tentatively named Domino, Newton wants to remove “cult of exclusivity around wine bars” with his new spot, which will be next to Red’s Chinese.

Expect to be guided to the right glass of wine without a bunch of details about terroir, plus inexpensive wines, bar games (checkers, chess, backgammon, etc.), and a kitchen serving food (no details on the menu yet). There will also be wine-based cocktails, according to Helen Freund.

St. Claude has been getting a few cool, new eating and drinking spots lately. Poke-chan brought bowls of the Hawaiian fish craze to the street in December. Freezy Street on St. Claude became New Orleans’ very first Thai rolled ice cream spot last summer. Queenie’s on St. Claude brought back the daiq shop, along with great food and tiny pies last summer as well.

And, let’s not forget, the Oscar Meyer Weinermobile is making a stop on St. Claude very soon.
