FESTIVAL SEASON — The New Orleans Tamale Festival lands at Poor Boys Bar in St. Bernard on January 6 from noon to 6:30 p.m. Celebrating the Delta-style tamale, expect red chili pork tamales, vegan black bean and corn tamales, version, chicken tamales, cheese tamales, and a tamale filled with chocolate and strawberries. Live music, crowning of the Tamale King and Queen, and a tamale-eating contest. No cost to enter, but donations will be accepted. [GAMBIT]
FESTIVAL SEASON — A bigger and better Marley Gras Jerk Chicken Festival returns to Central City BBQ on January 20 with food, live music, and craft vendors. Food vendors include Boswell’s, Jahnny’s Jamaican Grill, Yak-a-mein Lady, and more. The festival takes place from 1 p.m. to 10 p.m. Tickets are $10 in advance and.
