La Divina Gelateria Bids the French Quarter Addio

The shutter was announced today on Facebook

Yelp/Sam O.

Fans of the gelato at La Divina Cafe e Gelateria will now have to drive all the way to Baton Rouge for their fix, as David and Ruth Marinello announced the shutter of its French Quarter location this afternoon on Facebook.

The last remaining location is in Baton Rouge (3535 Perkins Road, Suite 360 Baton Rouge, LA). Eater reached a company representative by phone, who said that there are no plans to close that location any time soon.

The popular gelato hub once had multiple locations in New Orleans. The Garden District location on Magazine Street closed in 2014 so that the company could focus on the wholesale side of its business. Loyola students were lucky enough to have one at their university for a while, but that one closed too.

Eater has reached out for more information on the French Quarter shutter and will update this post as more information becomes available.

Here’s the full Facebook post:

After ten years in the French Quarter La Divina Café e Gelateria has decided to call it quits. We’ve had a wonderful time, made many friends and provided both locals and tourist with the best homemade gelato, espresso and Sicilian specialties available in New Orleans.

Whether you were a loyal customer or a one time visitor, we thank you for your patronage and hope you have enjoyed yourselves as much as we enjoyed serving you.

Good bye and good luck

Sincerely,

David & Ruth Marinello
