Apparently, think-outside-the-box Chef Isaac Toups hasn’t been having enough fun with food lately, so he’s debuting a once-a-month, “off-menu,” themed dinner series called Counter Club on Thursday, September 21 at the exhibition kitchen counter at Toups South. Following dinners will take place on the third Thursday of each month.
The first in the series, “A Fowl Experience,” will feature dishes like duck breast larb – a Lao salad with butter lettuce, minced duck breast, butter lettuce, Thai chili, puffed rice, and pickled quail eggs with caviar.
“Anyone who knows me, knows I love to get creative with the food we’re doing and Counter Club gives me the opportunity to just have fun with menu and do some really cool things. I really intend to go out of the box, ditch the menu and flex some of my off kilter ideas,” Toups said in a press release.
Toups will reveal upcoming Counter Club themes the first week of each month, but he won’t reveal the menu until the guests arrive.
Only 18 seats will be available each month. Reservations can only be made by calling the restaurant directly at (504) 304-2147. Diners should specify which Counter Club they’d like to attend and share any dietary restrictions. Dinners cost $50 per person (excluding beverages, tax and gratuity), and include four courses, plus an amuse bouche and welcome cocktail.
