Popular Gert Town smokehouse, LA Smokehouse, temporarily closed its doors following an electrical fire at the restaurant Monday night, reports the Gambit.
A post to the restaurant’s Facebook page about the closure implied that the future was uncertain, while a response to a comment posted implied that the restaurant would re-open as quickly as possible. Here’s the Facebook announcement:
We have suffered an overnight electrical fire and are sad to report that we are temporarily closed. We certainly hope we can recover from this event but at this moment we are not sure of the future of LA Smokehouse. Please keep us in your thoughts and prayers.
UPDATE: The restaurant confirmed to Eater that it will re-open. Here’s the full story.
LA Smokehouse opened in the March of 2016 and quickly gained a dedicated following for its barbecue plates and smokehouse versions of popular New Orleans dishes, like the smokehouse muffuletta and Abita barbecue grillades and grits. Eater named it one of the top barbecue spots in New Orleans for 2017.
Eater has reached out for details and will update this post as they become available.
