Texas-born pitmaster Damian Brugger of Brügger's Barbecüe will open not one but two new restaurants in 2018. Less than a month out from the news that Brugger will open a kitchen inside the Brieux Carré, Todd Price reports that a Brügger's Barbecüe will also have a home Uptown. The restaurant will land before Mardi Gras at 4735 Magazine Street, near Tal’s Hummus.
The Uptown spot, located in a shotgun style house with a full kitchen and a side yard (for a beer garden), will serve barbecue, traditional sides, hamburgers, wings, and some healthier options. The beer garden will have fans, televisions, and outdoor games.
The location inside the Brieux Carré, as previously reported by Eater, will occupy a 1,100-square-foot space on the upper level of the Brieux Carré building. It will feature an 200-square-foot kitchen, private event space, a new gallery overlooking Decatur and Frenchman Street, and a renovated balcony with views of the brewery’s courtyard. More seating capacity will be added indoors to accommodate the restaurant’s customers. The designs will include murals by local artist Marcus Brown.
Brügger's has been plotting an expansion since last December when the owner announced his intensions to launch a full-scale restaurant with a brewery component.
