Cake genius Beth Biundo is officially unleashing her popular pastries today in Milan. The new brick-and-mortar shop, Beth Biundo Sweets, fills the space at 3917 Baronne St. previously occupied by Cleaver & Co., which shuttered in March.
A longtime pastry chef at Lilette, Beth Biundo has been named a semifinalist for the James Beard Award for outstanding pastry chef in the United States four times. After leaving Lilette, Biundo did a brief stint in 2014 as an interior designer before returning to the pastry world with her eponymous pop-up and online shop, Beth Biundo Sweets, in 2015.
The new dessert bar features a bright, modern look with polished concrete floors, custom cabinetry, and banquette seating. Beth Biundo Sweets will specialize in both retail orders and special order pastries. Customers can expect to find the pastry case filled with a range of treats such as blueberry basil pound cake, malted milk ice cream sandwiches, chess pie bars, and more. The shop will also offer coffee, tea, and bottled beverages.
Beth Biundo Sweets is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday.
