THE CHAINS — PJ’s Coffee and Tea has a new location opening on the corner of Magazine and Jackson this Saturday. The local coffee chain will roll out a new logo with the opening of the new coffee shop. [via press release]

AWARDS — Aarón Sánchez, chef and co-owner at Johnny Sánchez, has chosen Oswaldo Rios as the first recipient of for the Aarón Sánchez Scholarship Fund. The scholarship program benefits aspiring chefs from the New Orleans Latino community. Rios, who was working at Felipe’s when he applied for the scholarship fund, will receive tuition and living expenses during culinary school, plus a paid internship and an expenses-paid trip to Mexico with Sánchez. THE CHAINS — Taco Bell continues its mission to develop alternative taco wrappers. In its newest offering, a fried egg stands in for a tortilla shell and is filled with potatoes, cheese, and bacon or sausage. It’s called Naked Taco. [EATER]

FESTIVAL SEASON — The Fried Chicken Festival announced its music line-up, which will include Big Freedia, Naughty Professor, Big Sam's Funky Nation, and others. COMING ATTRACTIONS — Schubert’s Marine got approval from The Non-Flood Protection Asset Management Authority to open a pizzeria at the boat repair shop in Gentilly. The new restaurant and bar will be in Schubert’s former fuel dock building. [GENTILLY MESSENGER]
