The Crepe Stand is moving in

Behold The Cheese Case at Continental Provisions, Now Open In The Quarter Brasted

Continental Provisions, the much-lauded food stand collaboration from a dream team from St. James Cheese Co, Cleaver and Co., and Bellegarde Bread, shuttered in the French Market on July 1, reports Ian McNulty. The Crepe Cart, a food purveyor that got its start in a much smaller cart in the French Market, will take over the spot. The Crepe Cart has also expanded to a brick and mortar location called the Crepe Place in the Bywater.

Continental Provisions helped spearhead the revival of the French Market, upping the artisanal ante of a market hellbent on being taken seriously again as a dining and shopping destination after years slinging flea market wares. In addition to adding food stalls like Continental Provisions and the Crepe Place, the French Market began hosting a Wednesday Farmers Market from Crescent City Farmers Market (CCFM). Since 2014, the French Market has added many popular food stands. Several, like the Crepe Stand, have had such positive experiences at the French Market that they were able to expand beyond it.

Since opening Continental Provisions, St James Cheese Co has opened another location in the Warehouse District, while Bellegarde Bakery entered into more creative partnerships with local chefs. Cleaver and Co shut its doors after changing hands. [ADVOCATE]
