Brügger's Barbecüe is plotting an expansion to one of New Orleans’ newest breweries, Brieux Carré Brewing Company. Texas pitmaster Damian Brugger has confirmed to Eater that the new restaurant will arrive in 2018.
Brügger's has been plotting an expansion since last December when the owner announced his intensions to launch a full-scale restaurant with a brewery component. As of January, he was still in the market for a location. Brieux Carré, which debuted earlier this spring in Marigny, has been hosting regular pop-ups featuring a variety of restaurants including Brügger's. The move will bring a permanent restaurant to the space at 2115 Decatur St.
According to Brugger, the new barbecue restaurant will occupy a 1,100-square-foot space on the upper level of the Brieux Carré building. It will feature an 200-square-foot kitchen, private event space, a new gallery overlooking Decatur and Frenchman Street, and a renovated balcony with views of the brewery’s courtyard. More seating capacity will be added indoors to accommodate the restaurant’s customers. The designs will include murals by local artist Marcus Brown.
Brügger's will open seven days a week serving barbecue and “brewery-influenced bar food.” The restaurants will offer an additional eight beer taps with two house soda taps as well as wine. Diners can expect live music and special events such as beer dinners, movie nights, and grilled oyster nights. If all goes according to plan, Brügger's is projected to debut in January. In the meantime, the barbecue spot will be popping up more regularly at the brewery.
Correction: A previous version of this article mentioned a location in St. Roche Market, which recently closed.
