  • Chef Isaac Toups once made dentures in his father’s dental office, according to a story on chefs’ summer jobs on Bloomberg. He credits the summer job he held growing up with teaching him that he likes working with his hands. According to Toups, “There are four of us kids. Two became dentists, and two became chefs. We always joke we are an orally fixated family.” Neil Bodenheimer, owner of Cure and Cane & Table, also dishes. He once “peddled its line of gourmet sauces by setting up tastings in grocery stores around Austin.” From that, he learned that he loved talking to strangers and trying to sell them “nonessential” things.
